TYDD ST MARY PARISH COUNCIL
ENVIRONMENT POLICY
What do we believe?
- We recognise that some if not all
our activities impact on our environment
- We recognise that everyone is responsible for our
environment and should
play
their part, however small
- We see environmental issues as
integral to our practice, and not as an afterthought
What will we do?
o
We
make environmental issues an agenda item at meetings when needed
- We review our activities and
procedures to identify and evaluate their impact on our environment
- We set priorities to address any
issues arising
- We take environmental impact into
consideration when considering quotes for services, even if this means
going for a dearer option
- We aim to keep abreast of
innovation and ideas
Equipment
- We do our best to maximise the use
of recycled and other environmentally friendly products and services
- We avoid waste and recycle and
encourage recycling as much as we can
- Should we have any of the
following, we would maintain vehicles, heating systems and appliances to
ensure maximum efficiency and minimum waste and pollution
- When replacing the above, do we
take into account environmental factors
Communication
- We maximise the use of IT and media
for communicating, and IT for keeping records, so minimising hard copies
- If using paper, do we try to use
recycled where possible, and print on both sides
Transport
- We encourage the use of public
transport/car sharing/cycling/walking
